Customers of The British Belt Company are a discerning bunch
and know luxury when they find it.
Based in rural Rutland, which is the UK’s smallest county, it
is operating with an air of exclusivity and when hunted down by the tenacious
consumer who knows what he wants, he is not left wanting.
TBBC’s Julia Krupska said: “Our website visitor is very
self-aware. There is something very specific they are looking for. The search
often starts with ‘British made’.”
Each individual piece of full-grain leather – sustainably
sourced from either within the British Isles or Italy – is then treated with the
reverence it deserves by a handful of highly-skilled local artisans who are

The leather is combined with other heavyweight materials,
such as exquisite Harris Tweed, for interesting collaborations and exciting
one-off pieces and usable offcuts are upcycled into some of the smaller goods, including
the contemporary design edge given to the braces collection.
Both style and substance combine in the weekenders, messengers,
satchels, briefcases and rucksack and there are smaller SLGs (small leather
goods to the uninitiated) too that can be personalised, including document
holders, a luggage tag and a hip flask sleeve we are dropping heavy hints for
for Valentine’s Day (next-day delivery option available if orders land before
midday and TBBC is also offering free monogramming until Wednesday this week).
Now women too are being catered for where utility can
display a fashion forward alter ego. We have our eyes on both Selena and Skye to
give our jeans some sass.
The family-owned business is a private label that sits in
the stable of the Arnold Wills Group, which has been in existence since 1946
and globally supplies lifestyle giants such as Barbour and Paul Smith and there
is an echo of city dweller with a hunger for country escapes and pursuits that is
in the fabric of the products.
